Fastpacking is a combination of trail running, fast hiking and ultralight backpacking – walking the uphills, jogging the flats, and running the downhills – depending on the gradient, and weight carried. Carrying a light pack with essential supplies only, often including a sleeping bag and tent if mountain huts are not available., preferrably no more than between 4.5kg and 7kg. Fastpacking involves covering a large distance over several days with a pack, which requires both mental and physical strength and the best light weight gear and shoes.
